Jardin de l’Arquebuse – Planétarium Hubert Curien

In Dijon, the planetarium, museum and botanical garden come together on a unique site dedicated to the natural sciences: the Jardin de l'Arquebuse, a place where scientific knowledge is shared and disseminated. The Hubert Curien planetarium, an all-digital facility, puts visitors right at the heart of the action and science, immersing them in a 360° projection.

It's the perfect introduction to the Jardin de l'Arquebuse. You can observe, listen, talk, understand, talk about the Universe, life, biodiversity... and talk about us! In perfect harmony with the museum and the botanical garden, the planetarium allows visitors to witness the birth of the Universe.

This total immersion promises thrills and emotions as volcanoes, asteroids and oceans and continents take shape.
Seven shows deal with water, Darwin's observations during his trip to the Galapagos Islands, the origins of life, the planets of the solar system and the secrets of night and day explained to children.

From Sunday 3 December 2023, a new show entitled "Lucia, the secret of the shooting stars" will complete the programme for young audiences. A new programme of screenings will come into effect from this date.

- Polaris
Duration 30 ' (all audiences)
A travelling penguin and a funny bear meet on the ice floe and wonder why night is so long at the Earth's poles. It's an adventure in which they discover that the planets have things in common, but also differences!

- Lucia, the secret of shooting stars
Running time 22' (young audience)
After "Polaris", children are reunited with the two apprentice astronomers, James the penguin and Vladimir the bear. Their duo becomes a trio... when they meet Lucia, a young hummingbird. Together, they head back into space to try and unravel the secret of shooting stars and meteorites, the mysterious stones that fall to Earth!

- The blind man with starry eyes
Running time 22' (young audience)
This tale is about a Tyrant who wanted to gain more power. The Old Wise Man advises him to count the stars? The task proves harder than expected: the stars seem to move! Night after night, the secrets of the sky are revealed to the Tyrant: the reason for day and night, shooting stars and the constellations.

- Natural selection: Darwin's journey
Running time 25' (general public)
Charles Darwin's observations during his voyage on the Beagle to the Galapagos Islands enabled him to develop his theory of evolution...
The thrill of scientific discovery, the adventure of science and the beauty of nature play a central role in this show.

- Planets, a journey through the solar system
Duration 31' (all audiences)
A large-scale journey through the fascinating landscapes that make up the solar system. You'll fly over the relief of Mars or the clouds of Jupiter and dive inside the rings of Saturn. Relive the tumultuous era of planet formation, but be careful not to hit an asteroid!

- Water, a cosmic adventure
Duration 30' (all audiences)
This show tells the story of water, providing some answers to the questions: who are we? Where do we come from? Are we alone?
It's a fantastic journey through the turbulence of the primordial Universe and the mechanisms that turned stellar interiors upside down, thanks to never-before-seen 3D animations that decipher the stages in the evolution of stars.

- The origins of life
Duration 23' (general public)
This show answers fundamental questions about the origins of life and the search for it in the Universe.

As an introduction to these shows, a permanent exhibition entitled "From the stars to our Earth" introduces visitors to our planet's solar system, the history and formation of the Earth: an extraordinary or ordinary planet? Geological phenomena, the atmosphere, the oceans.
