Musicales de Fontaine “Concert Mendelssohn ” par l’Ensemble Orchestral de Dijon, avec l’Ensemble ” A Coeur Joie “

For its last event of the 2021-2022 season, the Scène Fontainoise, in partnership with the city of Fontaine-lès-Dijon, invites you to the concert of the Ensemble Orchestral de Dijon with the Ensemble À Cœur Joie, conducted by Flavien Boy.

Two dates at the Centre d'Animation Pierre Jacques de Fontaine-lès-Dijon - entrance rue du Gal de Gaulle
Saturday 11 June at 8pm or Sunday 12 June at 3pm

The programme includes Felix Mendelssohn's "Symphony No. 2 in B flat major Op. 52": the first three movements reflect the composer's expression of German Romanticism while alternating with parts reminiscent of chorales, thus establishing a link with the final 4th movement with choir, which will be replaced, for this concert, by "Psalm 42 for mixed choir, solo voices and orchestra". With its strong emotional overtones, this work was considered by Robert Schumann to be "the masterpiece of Mendelssohn's religious music, indeed of that of his time".
The Burgundy - Franche-Comté Pole "A Coeur Joie" brought together 120 choristers from different choirs in the region (Mâcon, Dijon, Dôle, Gray, Besançon, Montbéliard and Belfort), grouped together and associated with the Ensemble Orchestral de Dijon, conducted by Flavien Boy and the soprano Laure Chanelet, to perform Psalm 42 by Felix Mendelssohn.
