Maison natale de saint Bernard

The birthplace of Saint Bernard in the year 1090, this building was remodeled in the 17th century to become the Royal Monastery of the Feuillants. In 1881, the buildings, badly damaged during the Revolution, were restored and transformed to take on the appearance we see today with a large tower with a false portcullis and a portico in front of the two chapels, whose decoration belongs to the late Renaissance. The centenary memorial was added to the buildings in 1891 to accommodate the large number of pilgrims. It was not given a permanent roof until 1991, on the occasion of the 9th centenary of the birth of Saint Bernard.
