"Al Gusto Italiano": Italian music and its influence in several regions of Europe.
The organ of the church of Saint-Pierre in Dijon, a fine Italian baroque instrument from Lombardy, will be played by André Rossi, an organist from Marseilles with a passion for early music. Italian Baroque music spread throughout Europe, and this concert will bear witness to its diverse influences. It will be an opportunity to discover, or hear again, composers such as Pablo Bruna, Antonio Careirra, William. Byrd, Henrich Sheidemann, Georg. Muffat, Bernardo. Storace, Domenico Cimarosa, Johann-Ludwig Krebs and Johann Sebastian Bach - all great names of the Baroque period.
Organist André Rossi, a native of Marseille, is a graduate of the Académie Régionale de Piano de Marseille, the organ classes of the Conservatoires Nationaux de Région de Marseille, Grenoble and Toulouse, and the Schola-Cantorum in Paris. He owes a large part of his training to Pierre PERDIGON and Jan Willem JANSEN.
Active in his region, he contributed to the construction of several concert instruments. Holder of the organ at Sainte Marguerite church in Marseille, he created and directs the "L'orgue Vivant" festival as well as that of Bouc-Bel-Air. A graduate of the Certificat d'Aptitude pour l'orgue and the Diplôme d'Etat "Orgue et Instruments anciens", he teaches organ, keyboard harmony, improvisation and basso continuo, and will be coordinating the early music department at Marseille's C.N.R. from 1988 to 2019.
The organ at Saint-Pierre church was built in 1989 by Jean-François Muno, in the spirit of the Italian Lombard baroque organ. This instrument is particularly well suited to honouring the composers played during this concert.
