Anouar Brahem Quartet

With Anouar Brahem, the Dijon Opera is delighted to welcome back one of the most famous ambassadors of the oud: his Quartet celebrates the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwich in music.

This evening's programme will feature extracts from 'The Astounding Eyes of Rita', an album dedicated by the artist to the illustrious Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwich. Surrounded by his faithful musicians and fellow travellers, Klaus Gesing, Björn Meyer and Khaled Yassine, Anouar Brahem likes to inscribe his notes in the words of the poet to create heady themes where lyricism and melancholy come together. A rare complicity between four virtuoso artists, an affinity of timbres and inspirations, but above all a journey between poetry, oriental music and jazz.
