More than 170 artists come together to celebrate Christmas! The orchestra will be decked out in red and white, joined by the Maîtrise de Dijon choir and the Traversées baroques, a vocal and instrumental ensemble specialising in early music. Its musical director, Etienne Meyer, is bringing all these forces together to perform extracts from Hector Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ, a large-scale work composed by one of the greatest orchestral geniuses and premiered in 1854, which narrates three biblical episodes - Herod's dream, the flight into Egypt and the arrival in Saïs. Sainte-Bénigne Cathedral is the perfect setting for this musical shepherd's star, to which other little stars will be skilfully linked: traditional Christmas carols arranged for choir and orchestra. A unique constellation of sounds, full of hope and joy. A concert that spreads the spirit of Christmas at its most unifying. A combination of traditional pieces, popular melodies, psalms and works from the classical repertoire, in the great tradition of Christmas carols, so dear to our Anglo-Saxon friends.
