HISTORY OF LA SESTINA - Vocal and instrumental ensemble
La Sestina (formerly the Choral Workshop) has existed since 1984. Governed by the law of 1 July 1901, it is a musical association in the Chalonnaise region and a member of the USMC (Union des Sociétés Musicales et Chorales). It is currently composed of 25 choristers who practice choral singing as amateurs. Rehearsals are weekly, and about two Sundays of work are organised per quarter.
La Sestina is dedicated to the study and performance of music written for choir a capella or with a formation of ancient instruments adapted to the repertoire.
For several years, La Sestina has specialised in the performance of early music from the late Middle Ages to the Baroque.
