Dévaste-moi

Dévaste-moi is a musical hybrid: concert, popular ball, lyrical recital and rock concert. It combines three art forms - song in sign language, music and, under the influence of Johanny Bert, puppetry - three "artistic languages" that use hands to speak, create and manipulate.

Accompanied on stage by the musicians of The Delano Orchestra, actress Emmanuelle Laborit, best known as the director of IVT (International Visual
Théâtre, a centre for deaf creation, research and culture) sings and signs well-known tunes and original songs.

Interpreted by the actress, the words become signs and are transformed into a rich choreographic language that brings the whole body into play. In Dévaste-moi, opera arias (Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Jules Massenet's Le Cid) and popular songs (Alain Baschung, Arno, Serge Gainsbourg) speak of the body, of wounds, pleasures and liberation... of a woman searching for herself and exposing herself. The resolutely visual and musical writing of each song becomes a fragment of a story revealing dreamlike images. They allow us to immerse ourselves little by little in the world of this woman who cannot hear but who translates everything her body feels.
