The SuperNova ensemble, born in 2020 in Saône-et-Loire, is highly representative of a new generation of artists involved in the renewal of contemporary music: an ensemble without a conductor, it draws on the energy and creativity that each member brings to the collective. SuperNova embraces both the freedom of improvisation and the craftsmanship of contemporary writing.
That's why SuperNova asked Karl Naegelen to write its second work: in his writing process, the composer always starts from the material offered by the musicians, their ways of playing, their collective production of sounds and their musical interactions. Karl Naegelen invents a kind of acoustic sound synthesis, rich in timbre, rhythmically virtuoso, but always clear and sensitive for the audience. The magic of sound that blows through acoustic spaces and lodges itself in the hollows of our eardrums.
