We are hosting a new exhibition in the Chapelle des Elus from 07 April to 15 June 2025.
This exhibition by Hervé MELON, an illustrator and graphic designer from Dijon, presents around twenty illustrations of Dijon under the title "Déambulation dijonnaise".
Trained as a graphic designer, his dystopian vision of the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy features the city's historic architectural heritage as a backdrop to scenes populated by animals and strange characters...
It's a 'romantic' stroll that juxtaposes two planes, real and imaginary. These line drawings support a link with the work of engraving.
The architectural backdrop serves as the stage for a visual narrative, a dreamlike transformation of the city, a fantastic theatre where the classicism of the architecture and its imaginative transcription are brought together to promulgate a kind of reverie that returns to the wilderness of nature.
A proliferating, disturbing vegetation, a force of invasions and coverings, a hybrid bestiary, a fantastic imaginary that takes itself back in time; by mobilising these encounters, these spaces of freedom, these fantastic breaths, it achieves a fusion of the elements that make up the works presented here.
Take a stroll through this reinvented Dijon, an organic and fantastic imaginative transcription of a marvellous city...
