Boosted by a large brass ensemble from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Édouard Signolet's adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk is a delightful musical theatre version designed for all ages.
a delightful musical theatre version designed for audiences aged 5 and upwards.
Jack and the Beanstalk is a well-known story with many versions. But while this famous 18th-century English tale remains anonymous, Édouard Signolet's adaptation elucidates its ancient wisdom: a quest that speaks to us of childhood and the bonds of attachment, the desire to undertake and the taste for risk. Performed and narrated by actor-storytellers, the story takes its gleaming, bravura colour from a score arranged for 14 instruments in the spirit of the brass band, including trumpets, trombones, horns and tubas, conducted by David Guerrier. The musicians will be performing excerpts from British composers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including Gustav Holst, Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten. 100% British!
