La Traviata

Three years after the success of Don Pasquale,
Amelie Niermeyer and Melody Louledjian return to Dijon Opera with a fresh take on the most famous and moving missed appointment in the repertoire.

In 1852, the tragedy of La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas (fils) had a profound effect on Verdi, who immediately set about composing his opera. He recounted the story of the forbidden love between the "rogue" and her lover who, like two tightrope walkers, desperately try to find each other throughout the opera. But Violetta and Alfredo should not love each other. In Amelie Niermeyer's vision, they met in a disused hangar, at a clandestine party, where souls cross paths and sometimes recognise each other. Whether in the salons of Paris or in the middle of a rave party, the profound drama of La Traviata remains unchanged
and exalted.
