Lamenti e Sospiri | Leonardo García Alarcón, Mariana Flores, Julie Roset

Sigismondo d'India, a name, a man, a work to be rediscovered. In a contemplative concert, Leonardo García Alarcón explores human emotions and rehabilitates this genius composer.

While the Renaissance was in its final stages, the Baroque period in Italy saw the development of new ways of expressing human emotions through more expressive music. Claudio Monteverdi is the best-known composer of this transitional period, but the recital also features his artistic twin, Sigismondo d'India. The latter participated fully in this change of sensibility and in the exploration of feelings in music, publishing some of the most innovative monodies of his time. The voices of Mariana Flores and Julie Roset, surrounded by a few instrumentalist confidants, sublimate this bewitching and purifying journey towards the deepest interiority.
