L’Autre voyage | Schubert

A musician of the intimate, Franz Schubert left many scores unfinished, testifying to his difficult-to-satisfy artistic demands. Silvia Costa and Raphaël Pichon imagine a psychic journey to the heart of his aesthetic, revealing poignant emotions.

On stage, a forensic doctor confronts his own disappearance, and his wife confronts the pain of mourning and the impossibility of forgetting. Director Silvia Costa and musical director Raphaël Pichon take their inspiration from the opuses of the Romantic composer Franz Schubert, unfinished or re-orchestrated, to confront us with our deepest desires and fears in a deeply moving, introspective journey. As he undertakes the dissection of his own organs, the doctor, played by Stéphane Degout, performs the moral and emotional autopsy to which Schubert's music urges us. An intimate exploration of our aspirations, our past wonders, our dreams and our illusions, through the ghosts emanating from the work of Franz Schubert.
