Musicales de Fontaine…avec le Quatuor Ludwig

Scène Fontainoise, in partnership with the town of Fontaine-lès-Dijon, invites you on a journey through French chamber music from the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century with the Ludwig Quartet, one of the finest ensembles of its generation, featuring Germaine Tailleferre, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.

The Ludwig Quartet is made up of Manuel Doutrelant (second violin), Violaine Despeyroux (viola), Sébastien Surel (first violin) and Anne Copéry (cello), all of whom share a love of chamber music that they defend with passion.

The concert begins with Germaine Tailleferre's Quartet (1919): a seductive, witty work in 3 movements, part of the cultural effervescence of the early Roaring Twenties.
Then there is Debussy's Quartet in G minor (1893), in 4 movements, distinguished by its bewitching atmosphere and innovative harmonies. It is often considered one of the masterpieces of the genre and has influenced many composers.
Finally, Ravel's Quartet in F major (1903), in 4 contrasting movements, brings the concert to a close. It is an emblematic work of 20th-century chamber music, combining harmonic subtlety and technical virtuosity.

The Ludwig Quartet, with its experience and commitment to chamber music, promises an exceptional performance. This is an opportunity not to be missed by classical music lovers!
