Musicales en Folies “Amérique…Amérique !”

After two years without Musicales en Folie - the last ones dating from April 2019 "The concerto...from Bach to Gershwin" and the "Autumn Folies" of November 2021, here are approaching those which are presented as the "Spring Folies" of 8-9-10 April 2022...
The 2022 edition will be the 8th edition of the Folies d'avril proposed by the Scène Fontainoise, in partnership with the city of Fontaine-lès-Dijon; it will take place at the Centre d'Animation Pierre Jacques in Fontaine-lès-Dijon
the Folies " America... America! "
12 concerts during these 3 days which will take us to South America with Astor Piazzolla's tango and to North America with American composers (Copland, Gershwin, Bernstein, Cage...) but also Europeans who lived for many years on the American continent (Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, Bartok...)...
without forgetting New Orleans Jazz, with the musicians of the Riverboat Stomper Dixieband who will open the festival on Friday 8th April at 5.30 pm during the inauguration... and it will be free.
During these 3 days, you will find many of your favourite performers, soloists or instrumental ensembles (Pianists Gaspard Dehaene, Eric Artz, Eve-Melody Salom, Julien Blanc, Natacha Melkonian, Emmanuelle Bouillot - Nathan Mierdl, violin - The Dijon Burgundy Orchestra, directed by Joseph Bastian - The Dijon Orchestral Ensemble, directed by Flavien Boy - the Kodama Quartet - the Métamorphoses Ensemble - the Evade Duo...)... not forgetting the pupils of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Dijon and the students of the ESM ('Ecole supérieure de musique de Bourgogne Franche-Comté)
... but also the participation on Friday 8th October at 8pm of a great film star Brigitte Fossey (the little girl from the famous film "Forbidden Games") who proposes a concert-reading entitled "Gatsby": a mixture of George Gershwin's music interpreted by Eric Artz on the piano and extracts from Gatsby the Magnificent, the emblematic novel by Francis Scott-Fitzgerald, two sacred monsters of the world culture between the two world wars
Another new feature on Saturday 9 April at 8.15 pm, the film-concert proposed by the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne: Projection of 3 silent films by Buster Keaton accompanied by the ODB to original music by Marc-Olivier Dupin.
Three days to travel across the ocean and get excited about this musical firework mixing chamber music, cinema, literature, jazz, tango... and the great concertos for piano (Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Gershwin) and violin (Bartok).
