Musiques Baroques “Flowers of Edingurgh”

2

Les Amusemens Lyriques is an early music ensemble that brings together professionals and amateurs. This year's line-up includes a harpsichordist, a flutist (traverso), a violinist, a cellist, a percussionist/vocalist and 5 singers. In 2024-2025, the aim is to explore Scottish and Irish music from the 17th and 18th centuries. To work on this repertoire, Marcelo Milchberg, a flutist accustomed to this repertoire, has been called in with the help of François Tillerot.

This repertoire, although learned, was often inspired by popular song and dance. Popular melodies and dance songs were taken up and set to music by musicians such as James Oswald, Geminiani, Haydn and Barsanti, even in the form of sonatas.

A link is therefore made with the dancing that took place at the time to these tunes.
On 9 June 2025, a "Flowers of Edinburgh" concert was organised, followed by a ball hosted by "les Amusemens Lyriques", Marge Chesnais and the group "On rangera plus tard". As some of the dances at the ball will be choreographed, there will also be a Scottish dance workshop led by Marge Chesnais to help you prepare. The workshops will take place on 24 and 25 May in Salmaise and on 7, 8 and 9 June in Dijon.
