Richard Galliano | New York Tango Trio

Led by accordionist Richard Galliano, the New York Tango Trio pays a vibrant musical tribute to composer Astor Piazzolla. Combining jazz traditions, tango and new musette influences, this is a musical encounter in its grand style.

Accompanying some of the world's greatest singers and a monument to French jazz, accordionist Richard Galliano is also the inventor of the new musette, a creation he owes to his meeting with Astor Piazzolla in 1980. In an album released in 2022, accompanied by Adrien Moignard on guitar and Diego Imbert on double bass, Richard Galliano revisits Piazzolla's pieces and combines them with his own compositions. The result is a dialogue that is always friendly, where the common identity of jazz, tango and musette can be felt: a relationship with dance, strong melodies, sophisticated rhythms and harmonies. All this is achieved with a jazz approach that, while sometimes straying from the score, never forgets the intention.
