Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1091-1153) is also known as Bernard of Fontaine, after the place of his birth. The fortified castle entrusted to the care of his father Tescelin was the place where Aleth de Montbard gave birth to her children: an extraordinary family that gave Europe and the Church a remarkable son, a trainer of men and a thinker of the first order. The hill of Fontaine is a moving reminder of the origins of this Burgundian who wrote part of history with a capital H and raised the hopes of the world.
Come and hear the story of Saint Bernard's life in the place of his birth, and discover the exceptionally well-preserved hill where one of the most famous Burgundians in history grew up!
