The CHLC is located on a 25-hectare site that includes 15 hectares of green spaces maintained by the establishment's Green Spaces Department. The entire site is landscaped as work progresses, with the aim of enhancing and diversifying the plant heritage and biodiversity. La Chartreuse Hospital was the first hospital in France to be awarded the "Eco jardin" label. The park now boasts 800 trees, many of which are remarkable for their age and size. The environment is also full of flowers, and a stream classified as a prefectural fish reserve flows through the park. The park works with a number of partners, including the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux (Bird Protection League), the Office National des Forêts (National Forestry Office), the Fédération Départementale de Pêche (Departmental Fishing Federation) and the Jardin des Sciences de l'Arquebuse museum.
