In Burgundy, terroir is much more than just a topographical concept. As far back as the 12th century, the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux were able to develop vineyards where the geological and climatic conditions were favourable.

Their skills were not confined to wine-growing, because on the plains, they made, and still make, the delicious Cîteaux Abbey cheese.

After climbing the 316 steps of the Tour Philippe le Bon, you'll discover the perfect marriage between a selection of wines and cheeses from local producers. A journey to the heart of Burgundy, its history and its terroir!
