You would hear in a hundred churches, all at the same time if you could, music or chapels with four or five choirs, all with good double bass singers, sopranos, altos and tenors, capable of making all those who are sad happy and content.
You would hear an almost divine chapel in the Palais Royal every morning and another at the Nunziata, unique and precious because of the voices of its singers. Finally, in Santiago, you would hear what you want to hear, and in the cathedral, in San Arpino, a hundred singers who give unbelievable joy to the audience. Giovan Battista del Ruffo.
Les Traversées Baroques and the Maîtrise de Dijon invite you to explore some of the most beautiful polyphonic pieces for several choirs written for the Royal Chapel of Naples - or for the numerous musical chapels of the 500 or so churches and monasteries that were active in Naples in the 17th and 18th centuries: Diego Ortiz, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Adriano Willaert will be the masters of the work.
A concert proposed by Les Traversées baroques and the Maitrise de Dijon.
