Annonciation | Torpeur | Noces

These three works by choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, one of which is a new creation, highlight the coherence and strength of his extraordinary choreographic style, which began almost forty years ago.

Through the revival of two of his most famous choreographies, accompanied by a new work, Angelin Preljocaj revives a gesture that has lost none of its power. The nuptial and funereal ritual of Noces, set to music by Stravinsky, unleashes real and artificial bodies to exorcise fears and sublimate the banal barbarity of weddings. With Annunciation, set to music by Vivaldi, Angelin Preljocaj questions the sacred moment of the Immaculate Conception: in a pas de deux between the angel and the Virgin, all the carnal power of this episode in the mysteries of faith is revealed. As if to question more than ever the meaning of the union of body and spirit.
