Au Maquis : TABLABOXING – ILYAS KHAN

TABLABOXING - ILYAS RAPHAEL KHAN

BEATBOX & TABLAS | INDIA / FRANCE
Tablaboxing - Ilyas Raphael Khan comes from a family of traditional musicians in India, where he grew up with his Indian father and his French mother. From the age of 3, he was taught the art of tablas, double percussion. Later, Ilyas discovered beatboxing and spontaneously associated it with classical Indian rhythms: contemporary beatbox tempos and tablas, it's "Tablaboxing". Ilyas was then nominated for the French Beatbox Championship and performed on many occasions: at the Solidays Festival, at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, at the Festival du Bout du Monde, South Bank Centre in London, Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Italy, Denmark, Lebanon and of course at NCPA Mumbai in India.

Ilyas Raphaël brings passion and virtuosity to the meeting of the millenary India and the Europe of today.

Zutique invited him, along with his sister Sabrina Parveen Khan, to the Nuits d'Orient festival (City of Dijon) last December.

The day after his concert at Au Maquis, discover with the master of tablaboxing, the complementary techniques of contemporary beatbox and traditional Indian tabla bol to create your own beats! Open to all, beginners or experienced, this workshop is a cross initiation to beatbox and tablas.
