La Langue des Cygnes

For La Langue des Cygnes, puppeteer Laurie Cannac is continuing her exploration of folk tales, this time inspired by Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. Who doesn't know the story of the duckling who is "not very graceful", or rather different, mocked, chased out of the barnyard and ends up recognising himself among the most majestic swans?
However, here she has created a dreamlike work that fuses dance and puppetry and incorporates French Sign Language. To achieve this, she has teamed up with Andy Scott Ngoua, a choreographer and dancer from Gabon, and Karine Feuillebois, a deaf storyteller.
"The result of this blend of disciplines is a highly poetic show, almost wordless, based solely on the power of images and the expressiveness of bodies", says Le Monde (Cristina Marino, 15 March 2023), as well as a work that appeals to everyone and gives confidence to the many ducks that we still are (it's only a passage) or once were.
