Le Nécessaire Déséquilibre des Choses

Fragments d'un discours amoureux
In Le nécessaire déséquilibre des choses (The Necessary Imbalance of Things), the puppeteers, dressed in a jumpsuit that sometimes evokes a scientist's lab coat and sometimes a clown's costume, question the world. In the midst of philosophical questioning, they explore with humour the concepts of desire, relationships with others and the meaning of life. Inspired by a text by Roland Barthes published in 1977, the lover becomes the central figure of the show: the one who faces the Other, absent, who constantly escapes, flees, evades in order to belong to the world.
On stage, puppeteers, a visual artist, a ladder-man and a string quartet are on the edge of their seats. A heart beats, all by itself. Characters appear: the Minotaur lost in his labyrinth, a pack of wolves, a paper woman, birds. They all tell of a state of Desire, embodying a metaphor for this quest for the feeling of love. Tied together, these fragments form a poem: why is it so difficult to be loved?

"Even more ambitious, even more creative, Camille Trouvé, on stage, and Brice Berthoud, directing, the irresistible duo from Les Anges au Plafond, embark on an exploration of desire (...) More than a science-fiction fable, this show is an intense visual poem, with an aesthetic as meticulous as it is masterful. This epic tale combines a variety of manipulative techniques (puppets, shadows, pop-ups) and materials (paper, latex, wood), accompanied by a string quartet, giving strength and breath to a succession of magnificent, vibrant tableaux. The set design is equally impressive". Thierry Voisin, Télérama sortir
