Samira Kadiri & Moustapha Mattar

A concert given by soprano Samira Kadiri accompanied by musicians from Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Syria and around fifty musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de jeunes du Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Dijon.

This concert combines recent creations by composer and pianist Moustapha Mattar with masterpieces by great Arab divas such as Fayrouz, Asmahan and Leila Mourad. The repertoire combines Arab-Maghrebian musical heritage, Arabic poetry and Western music. It pays tribute to French chanson by introducing the accordion alongside the quintessential Arab instruments: the qanoun (table zither), the oud (lute) and the nay (reed flute).

As part of the Festival Les Nuits d'Orient.
