La Petite Boutique des horreurs | Alan Menken

From 10 years old

Fans of musicals, come and discover the very horrific story of Seymour Krelborn and a plant dear to his heart called Audrey II. You will be carried away by the mad verve of Valérie Lesort and Christian Hecq, back at the Dijon Opera after their wonderful Petite Balade aux enfers!

Shot in just two days, The Little Shop of Horrors tells the uplifting story of Seymour, an employee of a shabby neighbourhood florist and the passionate lover of the beautiful Audrey, whose life is turned upside down after the discovery of a carnivorous plant with an insatiable appetite... Released in 1960, Corman's film already contains some frankly comic elements, which are accentuated in the rock musical based on it. All that is needed, in short, to seduce Valérie Lesort and Christian Hecq, lovers of infernal grand-guignol, improbable actor-puppet hybrids and other half-horrific half-hilarious special effects. Created off-off-Broadway in May 1982, The Little Shop of Horrors was immediately covered with awards and ran for five years before being brought to the screen by Frank Oz in 1986. For this re-creation of a classic of black humour (with green highlights), with the complicity of Maxime Pascal at the helm, Lesort and Hecq will rely on a new French version.
